There are many ways to find this, simply type "electric charging point near me" on Google and you will be provided with the results of the closest charging point from you.

What kind of charging station should I get?

Many charging stations are available 3.7kW and 7kW home charging ports are the most common options. Fast 22kW units are also installed in many workplaces and public charging stations, however, they are rarely available for residential use. A 3.7kW charger is often required for hybrid vehicles, whereas a 7kW charger is typically required for full-electric vehicles.

The biggest distinction between the two is how quickly they charge your vehicle. A 7kW charging station will charge your car more quickly than a 3.7kW device. However, several elements influence how quickly your car's battery charges.

How long does it take to charge your electric car?

When compared to filling up your car with fuel, charging your electric car takes a little bit longer. However, this is very convenient to do because you can simply leave your car to charge overnight so it is ready for you in the morning.

The amount of time it takes to charge your electric car can be as little as 30 minutes or more than 12 hours. The amount of time it takes is highly dependable on various factors, these include:

  • The size of the battery in your car
  • How many miles you have completed between charges
  • The power rating of the charger you are using
  • Whether you are charging to top it up or charging it from low to full

How far can my car travel from a charge?

This, like everything else, is dependent on your vehicle, battery, and charging station. However, depending on a 7kW home charger, a small full-electric car may be charged at a rate of up to 20 miles per hour. The higher the kW of your charging station, the more charging distance you'll get every hour.

Full-electric car owners must know how far their vehicle can travel each hour of charging to ensure they arrive on time. Rapid charging stations are the most efficient, allowing you to travel between 60 and 200 miles in as little as 20-30 minutes (depending on the car).

Top Tips for EV Charging!

  • Charging your car is similar to charging your phone: fill it up as needed, then leave it overnight to charge.
  • Charging a battery from empty takes longer. It will charge at a significantly faster rate if you are topping up a battery that is at least 50% full.
  • You can't charge your car faster than the maximum rate. If your car's maximum charging rate is 7kW, for example, even if you put it into a higher kW charging port, it won't charge any faster.
  • When it's chilly outside, it takes longer to charge your car, and charging is less efficient. In the winter, topping up regularly keeps the system warm and uses less energy per charge.
  • Because they have less weight to transport, small full-electric cars are the most efficient. At 7kW, a car like this will typically charge at roughly 20 miles per hour. The efficiency of large electric and hybrid vehicles is lower.
  • The majority of full-electric vehicles have the potential to charge quickly. Hybrids are usually unable to do so.
